Dallas Mavericks outspoken owner Mark Cuban reportedly has been fined $100,000 by the NBA for criticizing officials.
While the NBA did not announce the fine, the Dallas Morning News reported it late Saturday night, citing three league sources.
Cuban apparently was punished for comments he made about the referees working a November 15 game in Memphis, which the Mavericks lost, 108-101 in overtime.
Following Saturday's win over Orlando, Cuban denied that he was fined, the newspaper stated.
Fines are nothing new to Cuban, the self-made billionaire who went the entire 2002-03 season without punishment. He has received some $1 million in fines over the past three years, including a $500,000 hit in January 2002.
Mavericks coach Don Nelson was fined $7,500 on Saturday for comments that appeared in newspapers Wednesday. Nelson said he hoped referees would not be watching Danny Fortson too closely because of a recent flagrant foul he committed.
