  • Vince Young will throw at NFL scouting combine

Former Texas quarterback Vince Young will throw and meet with teams at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis on Feb. 22-28, according to his agent, Major Adams.

Adams said Friday that Young won't run or lift weights at the combine because "teams already know he can run and do all that."

Young chose Adams as his agent because Adams served as the Young family's attorney in Houston. Adams also represents Philadelphia Eagles safety Michael Lewis and will represent former UT linebacker Aaron Harris of North Mesquite.

Even though Adams has negotiated only one NFL contract (Lewis was taken in the second round out of Colorado in 2002), he says he's more than capable of negotiating a top deal for Young. Young is expected to be one of the first players taken in this year's draft.

Young has also hired his uncle, Keith Young, as his business manager, according to family spokeswoman Yolande Lezine. He is a teacher and coach at Paul Revere Middle School in Houston.

Adams said Young will take part in the ninth Capital One Presents the College Football All-Star Challenge on Monday at Dolphins Stadium in Miami. The event will be televised by ESPN next Saturday.

Young is working out in Houston in preparation for the draft. He was criticized by a newspaper there for taking part in the Tristar Collectors Show on Jan. 20-22, signing autographs for $80 apiece with no inscriptions.

Adams said Young did not have any similar plans to make public appearances for money in the near future. He also said that Young visited the Texas Children's Hospital in Houston this week.
