Jose Canseco had a conversation about steroids with Barry Bonds at the end of 2005, according to FOX SPORTS RADIO.
Canseco, appearing as a guest on the "Drive on Fox" with Chris Myers and Ben Maller was asked if he had spoken to Bonds since his own steroid tell all book was released. "Ironically, I think I saw him briefly about 4 or 5 months ago when he was staying in L.A. and he kind of came up to me and I was kind of looking at him and he said to me, 'you know Jose, I've never taken steroids' and he kind of lifted up his shirt and I kind of laughed in his face," Canseco said.
"I kind of looked at him and said, 'You're talking to me. You're not talking to a reporter or a guy up the street that doesn't know what's going on. You're talking to Jose Canseco. The guy who actually started this revolution on steroids. I know exactly who you are and what you did and eventually, it's all gonna come out.''
Jose responded to a question on Bonds Hall of Fame chances should he set the all-time home run record. "he's definitely going to set it and he definitely should be in the Hall of Fame. Again, how are you going to control who goes into the Hall of Fame or not, who was using at a certain time, how one steroid benefits one individual compared to the other - it's impossible to tell. Bottom line, the 90's, late 80's and 90's and early 2000, it was just a steroid era."
Canseco was asked how Bud Selig and Major League Baseball will handle the new tell all book on Bonds. "Major League Baseball is basically going to again hide behind the players and they knew nothing about it - didn't know it was going on. They had no information. They had no detail about it. They're just gonna do what they do best, which is hide."
