  • Kobe: If West isn't back running Lakers I want out

Kobe Bryant isn't happy with the Lakers' direction and wants Jerry West back in Los Angeles to fix things.

Bryant told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that he wants the Lakers to bring West back to the organization and give him full authority. If the Lakers don't want to do that, Bryant said he wants to be traded.

Bryant is frustrated that the team has not made any significant moves since it re-signed him.

"I want to see us get to a contending level," he told The Los Angeles Times. "I want to see us become a championship contender. It's been a frustrating process for me and I'm sure it's been a frustrating process for all Laker fans. I'm just hoping we can get to that level. I'm still frustrated. I'm waiting for them to make some changes."

Mitch Kupchak is the current Lakers general manager.

West, who spent five seasons in Memphis, will leave his post as the Grizzlies' director of basketball operations July 1 at the end of his contract. West helped build the Lakers' dynasty in the '80s and engineered their rebirth in the '90s, overseeing seven NBA championship teams -- including back-to-back champions in 1987-1988 and three consecutive crowns from 2000-2002.

In Memphis, West never had the advantages he enjoyed in the large market of Los Angeles, where he signed Shaquille O'Neal and traded Vlade Divac for Bryant.

Bryant averaged 31.6 points per game in 2007 as the Lakers qualified for the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 42-40 record. Los Angeles lost in five games to the Suns, however, and the Lakers haven't won a championship since O'Neal was traded to the Heat.

I got some trade scenerios that would help everyone. Kobe the Celts for Paul P, pick 5 and some money. In the East he could be able to compete. Or Kobe to the Kicks for Starbury, pick 9 and Q-Richardson. Charlotte for Derek Anderson and a trade and sign deal for Gerald Wallace might work. In the East he could be able to compete. In the West he could go to the suns for marion, this years pick and raja bell. To the Twolves for pick #7, Marko Jarich, R-Davis. And finally to Sacramento for Artest, Kevin Martin and pick #10. Not saying he will win in all these stops but could compete.

So there you go Mitch make it work.

If Kobe wants another championship, he should shut his mouth and earn it. He needs to learn to pass the ball and to use his brain on the court, for starters, make his teammates better. What the heck is wrong with athletes today?

If Kobe wants to win, he can tell Kupchak/Buss he'll defer some of his salary to make it happen. If not, then I'm with the Kobe haters. He wanted to be the focus of the team and he can't even win a 1st round series without Shaq. Meanwhile, an old Shaq has already won a championship without Kobe, now Kobe realizes he needs to win a championship withouit Shaq, but he can't. Tough luck, loser. Jerry Buss made the right decision (Shaq was getting old), but Kupchak blew it when he didn't get Dwayne Wade back. Even if Wade wouldn't fit in the Lakers plans, at least he would have been better trade bait than Caron Butler or Brian Grant.

I'm totally on board with how kobe is feeling. I made the statement as soon as the announcement was made that West would be leaving the Grizzlies that he should return back to the lakers. Mitch Kuptchack has done nothing to improve this team. They have two players in Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum that can be used to bring help to Kobe, but Kuptchack refuses to deal them. I'm sorry, but Kwame Brown and Smush Parker is not the answer.

Fuck Kobe. If he wants West to work for the team he should pay with his own money. If not, the Lakers should trade the ungrateful prick.
