St. Louis Rams backup quarterback Marc Bulger has signed a one-year contract.
Terms were not disclosed, the team said Thursday.
Bulger will be a restricted free agent after the 2003 season. If Bulger goes to another team, the Rams would receive a draft pick as compensation.
Bulger was a third-stringer at the start of last season, but created a small quarterback controversy with his strong play after injuries to Kurt Warner and then-backup Jamie Martin.
Bulger went 6-1 as a starter, going 138-of-214 for 1,826 yards and 14 touchdowns and was voted team MVP.
