It didn’t take long for UFC president Dana White to respond to Fedor Emelianenko’s shocking upset loss to Fabricio Werdum at “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum.”
With a simple stroke of his iPhone keypad (and I’m sure it was from an iPhone4 considering White’s baller status), the brash promoter dropped his two cents on the surprising matter – which not coincidentally was the flip side of what his mixed martial arts counterparts were experiencing.

For those not privy to texting lingo, that’s a combination of a “smiley” and “shocked” face, further antagonizing his stateside rivals after witnessing their meal ticket fall for the first time in nearly 10 years.
In a dream scenario, it was believed Emelianenko was to annihilate Werdum en route to a box office pay-per-view bonanza against reigning heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem. It would have marked the third and final fight on Fedor’s Strikeforce deal, after which the Russian would once again find himself as the sport’s most coveted free agent.
White and Co. clearly couldn’t have been happier with last night’s outcome, as the world’s premier MMA organization was able to triple-dip in the enjoyment arena. Not only did the man they have been courting for years have his 27-fight winning streak abruptly snapped, but it was a “UFC reject” that disposed of Strikeforce’s golden boy.
White surprisingly cut Werdum from his roster after the Brazilian lost to Junior dos Santos in October 2008.
Furthermore, the UFC allegedly played a significant roll in Emelianenko’s diminished payday despite having nothing to do with Saturday’s event inside the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.
All in all, it was a great night for Octagon brass and they didn’t even have to lift a finger. Well, maybe just two thumbs for White to text with and a couple middle fingers to direct at his Showtime foes.
