WWF Hall of Famer Captain Lou Albano has passed away aged 76. Albano suffered a severe heart attack in 2005 and has had failing health ever since. We reported the news yesterday that Albano had been put in a hospice.
Captain Lou Albano was an instrumental star in transforming the then WWWF from a regional to a national promotion. As well as wrestling success Albano transformed himself into one of the most villionous managers of all time managing the likes of Pat Patterson, Don Muraco and Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine. Albano carved a prolific legacy that remains unmatched by guiding over a dozen teams to the WWWF World Tag Team Championships. Under his tutelage, Mr. Fuji and Mr. Saito, The Valiant Brothers, Wild Samoans, The Moondogs, and The British Bulldogs.
By the end of his career, Albano managed over 50 different wrestlers who won two dozen championships
